SYNAPSES

SYNAPSES is an innovative system that integrates CIAS sensor performance (alerts/alarms, etc.) with Deep Learning–based Video Analysis.. Synapses maximizes perimeter protection performance in the most critical areas.

It was developed by CIAS R&D to meet the growing need for integration between video surveillance and perimeter protection. The SYNAPSES intelligent “super-sensor” harmonizes and improves the performance of the entire intrusion detection system.
It is able to classify all types of targets (human, animal, vehicle, etc.) within the camera’s field of view, and dynamically adjusts detection thresholds of CIAS sensors in that area to improve the performance of the entire system.

Video analytics with deep learning

Unlike traditional VCA (Video Content Analysis) systems, SYNAPSES uses deep neural networks (Deep Learning) to classify targets with a very high level of accuracy.
It is able to distinguish between a human and an animal or vehicle, modifying the behavior of CIAS digital sensors in real time according to the threat detected.
By complying with D.O.R.I. (Detection, Observation, Detection, Recognition, and Identification) standards for visual recognition (up to 125 pixels/m), it ensures high performance even in complex environmental conditions.

Fuzzy Logic

With SYNAPSES, each camera can be divided in up to 8 video analysis areas, to which up to 4 sensors per area can be assigned.

The interaction between video and sensors is done through a fuzzy neural mechanism, which allows the alarm thresholds to be dynamically optimized according to the type of object detected. In doing so, it eliminates false alarms caused by animal passage for example, reduces NARs (Nuisance Alarm Rate), and increases the probaility of detection (POD) in the case of a human passage.

Simple integration, maximized performance

SYNAPSES is fully configurable by a web browser via an on-edge integrated web server.
It supports remote software updates, area/sensor status displays via RTSP video, and can be monitored with IB-System IP or IB-System Lite (CIAS).
Synapses is easily installed on DIN rail, and an ideal choice for upgrading existing CCTV and perimeter installations, enhancing their intelligence and effectiveness.
