Airport Traffic
Many civil and military airports have already been using the intelligent microwave barriers ERMO 482x PRO to protect the perimeter and/or particular areas (hangar, parking places, etc.). For some years, these barriers have also been used for surveillance and guidance of control system for ground movement during bad visibility (heavy fog, rain, etc.).
Airports use microwave barriers to detect the movements of airplanes passing through the microwave beam, for two main purposes:
to prevent the collision of 2 airplanes moving towards one another from two different crossings;
to prevent end-on collisions between airplanes which are moving on the taxiway.
SIGNAL ANALYSIS: FUZZY LOGIC
The behavior models in the memory of the ERMO 482x PRO (fuzzy logic) make it possible to generate an alarm condition for vehicles and airplanes crossing through the beams, while avoiding alarms from most other disturbance signals, such as, the signals created by ground radar.
Applications
To prevent the collision of 2 airplanes moving towards one another from two different crossings
To prevent end-on collisions between airplanes which are moving on the taxiway.
